Picket System in Purdy, WA
This style was used to match an existing section of the same type used earlier. Note railing attached to
existing columns for overhead canopy and the inner post on the turn at the landing. The latter takes some care
when designing the stairs to make it work well. The upper run of stairs needs to be set back on the landing
correctly to make the handrail make a smooth transition around the post. They should also allow the first step
to be off the deck otherwise you have to make a railing transition if the first step is deck height. Also if
the columns are off the rim-ist too much it could cause the railing to be pulled back from the rim-joist
making extra blocking for the post anchors.
