This was a 73 ft. long system with 8, yes 8 each 45 degree turns and we used one continuous cable for each of the 73 ft. cables. When tensioned, we only had to take up approx. 1-1/2" on the adjusters to tune the cables. This is an example of some of the planning that goes into the post and cable layout on any job. Cables tensioned on the light side because of the cooler temperatures and the fact that the system was aluminum and painted a dark color. Thermal expansion is always a consideration especially with an aluminum frame.
Photos of end post below show the stand off from the wall to allow room to adjust and cut off the threaded studs. Running the top rail past the post and almost to the house makes it look finished and the post to house gap is not noticed. The close up shows the crimping marks on the field installed studs and if done cleanly look fine and the detail is part of the look of cable.

The photo below shows the use of 45 degree posts which allow the cable to run through and be tightened without any problem at all especially when using our special nylon grommets. They act like a slick bearing for the cable to slide through making cable adjustment surprisingly easy.
