We have set photos in a reduced size to fit two side by side. In most cases if they have a colored (usually blue, depends on your settings) border you can click on any photo to take you to a larger version to see more detail. Use the "Back" button in the upper left of your screen to return to this page from the enlarged photo.
The links at the top or bottom will take you back to the Home Page or Cable Thumbnail page. Note the cranes in the right photo just below. They are building the caissons for the new suspension bridge over the Tacoma Narrows in fall of 2003. This is the one that was called "Galloping Gertie" that fell in a wind storm in 1940 only 4 months after is was built and is commonly seen in old news reels.

The following photos show more of the same job. The cable style of railing is very appropriate for this application. You have a stunning view with a marine flavor. The color of the frame was chosen to match the house and the deck is waterproof. You will note pickets used in a couple of areas which are used as cable "Spreaders" to keep the cable together in longer runs where you don't want to add a post.
