Ocean Shores Cable System

Customer installed cable system near the Pacific Ocean in western Washington.
This is a two story deck with existing wooden columns or posts in which 1/8" stainless cable was installed by the owner and his wife in one weekend in June 2002. With some planning we were able to minimize the stainless end fittings and ended up using standard factoy installed "Terminal Studs" and "Deck Toggles" with field installed "Threaded Studs" on the other end of each cable section which allowed enough adjustment for the lengths of cable used. The wooden post or column spacing was in the 8 ft. range which is too much of a span for the smaller cable.
Notice how that was addressed by using stainless tubing that was polished and installed with marine deck stantion bases. The finished look speaks for itself. Winds can get pretty rough down there and the rain and salt spray can blow horizontally making cable the better choice for this application. In some of the shots you can see the ocean waves. Photos on this page have been sized to load in a reasonable time even with a dial-up account. *** You can almost smell the salt water!! ***
We used "Deck Toggles" on the posts near the house as a way to "Face" mount the ends because you couldn't get on the house
side of the posts which is very common on new or remodel construction.
Customer was very pleased with the job so we have shown all his 17 or so photos he sent us. We will just list them below for you to scroll through. If you have any problems please e-mail us from the bottom of the home page.
