This is a job installed by the homeowner's contractor. Note the simplicity of the post attachment and the resulting visual
appearance of a symmetrical stainless post package accented with the wooden top rail. The top rail outlines the railing and the cable
infill to match the new look in railings and the marine look of the background. Note the putting green below the deck for some of
that relaxing practice in your own yard. Cable was a natural choice for this project.
Following photos show more of the same deck. Deck has a full frontal shot of Mt. Rainier, but it was hiding behind some clouds.
We have set photos in a reduced size to fit two side by side. In most cases if they have a colored (usually blue, depends on your settings)
border you can click on any photo to take you to a larger version to see more detail. Use the "Back" button in the upper left of your screen
to return to this page from the enlarged photo.
The links at the top or bottom will take you back to the Home Page or Cable Thumbnail page.

The following photos show more of the same job with the ability to enlarge them as you may need to see more detail. This is our standard
stainless railing package with large 2 x 2 sanded and buffed square stainless tubing that has proven to stand up to the rigors of the
loading imposed on a system by the cable tension. As you can see this system has several 90 deg. turns and we chose to stop on the one
inside corner. If you look closely you can see that the threaded studs used on the end of the cable had not been trimmed yet when these
photos were taken. We have not installed the gate yet where you can see the end posts and you can barely see the flathead fittings we used
to allow the gate to swing clear and not bump into any protruding end fittings. By having a large inventory of fittings we can take care
of these custom requests.

You can see the untrimmed studs on the right photo. We decided to stop and start the cable on the inside corner due to number of
corners on the system and did the entire deck with two runs of 10 cables stopping only at this one corner shown above. Careful
planning of post placement and cable usage can save money with cable since most of the cable cost is with with the end fittings.
Other vendors may try to stop and start cable at each corner and in this case would have used 100 end fittings, we used only 40
and feel strongly that the customer ends up with a much cleaner looking system which is the idea in the first place.

Both photos above show the same corner. Photo on left shows the top corner strap and the one on the right even though a bit blurry
shows the welded top post plates for attaching the wooden top rail.

Photo to the upper right is hard to see the details, but we used countersunk cable fittings in an area where a gate will be hinged
so we can have a clean surface for gate swing clearance.

The photo to the left shows the two bolt side mounted method with the post having an open bottom. Photo to right shows a nut plate on
the backside of the rim joist to act as a really BIG washer under the nuts shown.
This is the actual drawing used for layout and production. Click on photo for a larger view. It has a plan view, a section of the
rim joist and the special gate hinges that are called "Take Away Hinges", meaning you can open the gate, pick up and take it easily
off the hinge post as you might do if on a boat. Note: the lettering showing the more important posts so they can be discussed over
the phone plus making it easier to label the cable sections for easier mfg. and installation by others on site.
