Cable railing comparison with the same frame done in glass and pickets several years earlier on a neighboring home.

We just installed this brown railing on a two sided deck adjacent to another home we had done several years before in glass
and pickets. You can see a lot of detail in one photo. White frame is done in glass and pickets with fire egress gates in the upper deck
railing. Brown railing is done in the same heavy frame using our normal marine grade 1/8" cable using the assembly we call CA1010 which
has one factory installed stud and one field installed stud which is the easiest and best to use in this application.
We have set photos in a reduced size to fit two side by side. In most cases if they have a colored (usually blue, depends on your settings)
border you can click on any photo to take you to a larger version to see more detail. Use the "Back" button in the upper left of your screen
to return to this page from the enlarged photo.
The links at the top or bottom will take you back to the Home Page or Cable Thumbnail page.
The following photos show more of the same job. The cable is less maintenance and allows with breeze to flow easily with out any hotspots
on the deck from the sun, but of course is less of a windbreak for those needing it. Glass and cable can be mixed on the same job if needed
for possibly a windbreak for a hot tub area with the rest of the deck in cable for less maintenance and more air movement. Each application
is a little different. The brown color of the frame was chosen to match the house trim and it turned out nicely. The frame fits in well and the
cable allows a great view of the surroundings. You can keep the squeegee in the closet, no glass to clean on the brown railing.
